Northlight
A practice that builds for low winter light, on a site that behaves the same way.
The brief
Architecture studios all present work the same way: a grid of photographs and a short paragraph. Northlight wanted a site that made the case for the practice rather than cataloguing it.
The approach
- Built the site around something the studio already designs for: the way northern light moves through a room across a day.
- Project pages open on one photograph at full bleed. Drawings, plans and materials sit underneath, in the order an architect would walk you through them.
- A WebGL light pass tracks the scroll position and shifts the page's colour temperature from morning to dusk as you read.
The outcome
Longer sessions on project pages and a briefing document that now points at the site instead of a PDF.
A concept piece. Figures describe the intended result, not measured results.
